Gabriel City

The United States of America recently crossed a stunning threshold, more than one in every 100 American adults is now in prison. Indeed, America imprisons its citizens in greater numbers and at a higher rate than any other nation in the world. Over 2 million children in this country– 2% of our minor children—have a parent in prison.

But this is also a tremendously exciting moment of history. New technologies present limitless opportunities and innovative ways to engage communities and give people the tools to tell their own stories and construct new narratives. For the first time it seems that everyone has the chance to be a storyteller. Highest Common Denominator Media Group has seized this moment by creating an online community, a virtual space that addresses criminal justice issues with honest and compelling content. We hope that by engaging those most affected by the criminal justice system together we can break this cycle of incarceration that is affecting so many.

Gabriel City is a virtual world that includes written blogs, educational resources, social networking capabilities, and videos from Louisiana State Penitentiary Television (LSPTv). It is also a forum for discussion and support for inmates and their families, victims of crimes, criminal justice professionals and advocates. Through reaching a wide variety of people affected by the criminal justice system Gabriel City is a supportive and inclusive environment based on the principles of hope and forgiveness.

Welcome to Gabriel City.
